On the morning of September 3, an Il-76 military transport aircraft made an emergency landing at Cheremshanka Airport in Krasnoyarsk, the press service of the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.
According to preliminary information, the emergency landing could have been caused by the failure of one of the engines and a fire on board. Emergency services are working at the scene, there are no casualties.
The Ministry of Transport of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported that Cheremshanka Airport was closed for receiving ships due to the emergency landing of the aircraft.
Il-76 (NATO codification: Candid) is a Soviet and Russian heavy military transport aircraft developed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau.
Serial production took place at the Tashkent Aviation Production Association named after V. P. Chkalov in Uzbekistan.
In 2010, the production of the aircraft was officially transferred to Russia to the Aviastar-SP plant in Ulyanovsk. Currently, aircraft manufacturers are producing an updated version of the Il-114-300.
