Российско-Китайский институт фундаментальных исследований будет создан в Пекине

During the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China, the rector of Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichy, and the president of Peking University, Gong Qihuang, signed an agreement on the establishment of the Russian-Chinese Institute of Fundamental Research. The ceremony took place with the participation of the leaders of the two countries.

The institute will combine the scientific potential of Moscow State University and Peking University to conduct research in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and Earth sciences. It will become a platform for joint scientific projects, educational programs, and the training of highly qualified specialists. The structure of the institute will include scientific centers, each of which will create laboratories in Russia, China, and other countries. The Academic Council, the highest governing body, is already being formed, and the first directors of the centers have been appointed.

The initiative to create the institute was proposed by the rectors of Moscow State University and Peking University in 2024 and approved by the ministers of education of Russia and China. The project builds on the experience of cooperation between the two universities, including the successful operation of the Russian-Chinese Mathematical Center and the MSU-BIT University in Shenzhen, founded in 2015.

In 2026, declared the year of Russian-Chinese education, the institute will become a key platform for deepening scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries.
