Rosatom plans to become the first in the world to demonstrate a closed nuclear fuel cycle by 2030. This was announced by Natalia Ilyina, Director for Management of Scientific and Technical Programs and Projects.
The nuclear power complex consists of three facilities. The first of which has already been built.
This is a naturally safe power unit with a BREST reactor, the world's first plant for the production of dense fuel. By the way, it has already been implemented at the site in Seversk.
An experimental demonstration power complex (ODEC) of the IV generation based on an innovative reactor facility is currently being built in the Tomsk region.
The ODEK will include a closed nuclear fuel cycle, including a module for processing spent nuclear fuel from the BREST reactor and a module for producing new nuclear fuel.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the installation of nuclear equipment will begin on the blocks of a floating nuclear power plant for the Baimsky project.
