Domodedovo Airport has acquired a demilitarized armored recovery vehicle (BREM-1M) from Uralvagonzavod (UVZ, part of Rostec) to move aircraft in the event of emergencies. This is stated in a Rostec statement.
Rostec clarified that the machine had a machine gun and other military equipment removed. The state corporation also informed that all Russian airports are planned to be equipped with similar machines in the future, according to a decision by the Ministry of Transport.
Imagine: a Boeing has rolled off the runway and is stuck in the mud. How do you save it? It turned out that the best tool for this is not some super-modern tractor, but... our BREM-1M! It turned out to be the only tractor capable of pulling a stuck airliner off the ground.
BREM-1M on the chassis of the T-90 tank is designed for evacuation and repair of equipment in the field. The machine with a 1000 horsepower engine is equipped with a crane, bulldozer blade and traction winch.
