Chinese Cars Conquer the Russian Used Car Market

Japanese and German Brands Lose Ground as Chinese Brands Grow; LADA Leads

In the first half of 2025, 153,800 used cars manufactured in 2022 or later were sold in Russia. This represents only 5.6% of the total used car market, which reached 2.73 million vehicles. Experts note a significant shift in leadership within this segment. Chinese brands accounted for 38% of all sales of recent used cars.

Russian cars still hold a significant share at 32.5%. Meanwhile, Japanese cars, which previously dominated the market, have fallen to 10.2%. The shares of German and Korean manufacturers are nearly equal, at 7.9% and 7.6%, respectively.

Lada leads the list of the most popular brands in the Russian market with a share of 30.3%. It is followed by Geely with 6.5%, and Chery and Haval, each holding 6.4%. Toyota with 5.1% and Kia with 4.1% are also in the top five.

The Lada Granta remains the most popular model among recent used cars. Among foreign cars, the Haval Jolion crossover is the most popular. The Toyota Camry is often chosen as an alternative.
