The Siberian State University of Telecommunications and Informatics (SibSUTI) has developed software for controlling drones and transmitting video over cellular networks. Testing was successful, according to the university's rector, Yuri Zazulya.
Previously, the video stream was transmitted through foreign open-source software. The new solution is completely domestic and does not use open source code. The next goal is to replace Chinese drone components with Russian ones. Single-board computers and microchips have already been received from the companies "Elron" and NIIMA "Progress".
The development was carried out in the Student Design Bureau in collaboration with YADRO. This allowed students to work not only with 3G and 4G, but also to test new generation technologies. "We are flying on 5G in 4G networks - this is a serious step," Zazulya noted.
The technology will be shown at the "Technoprom-2025" forum in Novosibirsk from August 27 to 30.
