JSC "State Machine-Building Design Bureau "Vympel" named after I.I. Toropov was responsible for the development of the new air-based R-77M air-to-air missile for Su-35S and Su-57 fighters.
The missile should completely eliminate the gap from the American AIM-120D ammunition of a similar class, the range of which, when launched at an echelon of 13,500 m, can reach 180-190 km, and at an echelon of 3,500-5,000 m — up to 120-135 km.
The R-77M missile is represented by the aerodynamic configuration of a "lifting body" with flat tail aerodynamic rudders and a lifting wing with a small chord, equipped with a dual-pulse dual-mode solid-propellant rocket engine with a more efficient fuel charge.
The maximum speed of the new missile is up to 4900 - 5100 km/h, the average trajectory speed is 3500 km/h. The estimated height of intercepted targets is up to 30,000 m.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Admiral Nakhimov cruiser with Kalibr, Zircon and Onyx missiles has completed repairs.
