Chinese counterfeit auto parts displace Russian originals on the market

The Russian auto component market has faced a new wave of counterfeits. Chinese sellers have begun to massively copy domestic brands of spare parts and auto accessories.

While such cases were practically not recorded in 2024, in the first half of 2025, market participants noted dozens of similar incidents. 10-20 fake stores selling counterfeit products under Russian brands can operate simultaneously on online platforms.

The volume of counterfeit auto parts on the market is constantly growing - more than 20% in the first quarter of this year alone. Unscrupulous Chinese sellers openly steal photos, descriptions, and completely copy product cards of official Russian brands. Moreover, counterfeit sellers often occupy higher positions in the marketplace search than legal suppliers of the original.

Automotive wiper blades, all types of filters, brake discs and pads, as well as technical fluids and consumables are most popular among fraudsters. Attempts by marketplaces to combat this phenomenon with the help of "original" marks, verification algorithms and other systems have not yet yielded the desired result - verification does not keep pace with the influx of fakes.

Automakers and large suppliers have begun to actively protect their rights. In the first half of the year alone, AvtoVAZ sent 17 applications to law enforcement agencies, as a result of which more than 5 thousand counterfeit spare parts worth 12 million rubles were seized. The Union of Auto Services of Russia filed about 20 claims for illegal use of brands.
