Rainstorms in the Moscow region continue to flood streets and yards, with dozens of cars ending up in the water. Lawyer Yuri Kapshyk explained what to do for owners of damaged vehicles.
According to him, compensation is possible only with a comprehensive insurance policy (CASCO). OSAGO does not cover damage related to weather conditions, including car flooding. In this case, the repair costs fall on the owner.
Kapshyk clarified that in the absence of CASCO, the car owner should rely only on their own resources. Sometimes the damage is not related to the rain, but to the technical features of the car — worn rubber bands, loosely closed doors or windows. If the vehicle is damaged due to a falling tree, the management company may be liable.
