Scammers are increasingly calling Russians from foreign numbers

Sberbank warns that the number of such calls has increased 16-fold in a week

Scammers have intensified their telephone activity. They are increasingly using foreign numbers to call Russians. The number of such calls has increased 15 times. This is reported by Sberbank.

Attackers use cloud PBXs, renting foreign numbers, mostly from European countries. Often they choose numbers with combinations similar to those familiar to Russians, for example, +84 95. This simplifies the task for scammers, as they do not need to purchase real SIM cards.

Calls are made via Internet telephony. That is why it is more difficult for mobile operators to block such calls. Despite the increase in the number of calls from foreign numbers, their share in the total volume of fraudulent calls remains small.

Sberbank urges citizens to be careful and not answer unknown numbers. If you have no acquaintances abroad, the call is most likely fraudulent.
