Gorky Automobile Plant has begun equipping commercial models with new Euro-5 standard turbocharged diesel engines.
Recently, GAZ vehicles have been equipped with four-cylinder G31 series diesel engines of the Euro-3 standard, Foton engines localized in Nizhny Novgorod. Now GAZ has begun production of modernized Euro-5 standard engines, which received the index G51.
The new turbo diesel is equipped with an electronically controlled turbocharger, an electronic throttle valve, a particulate filter, a catalytic converter and an exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR).
The characteristics of the turbo diesel remained the same, with a working volume of 2.5 liters, the engine develops 150 hp. power and 330–420 Nm of torque. The new engines are installed on cars of the «Sobol NN», «GAZelle NN» and «GAZelle Next» families, as well as on «GAZelle City» and «Valdai 8».
