The Moscow City Court upheld the verdict against the former Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, Anatoly Tikhonov. He was sentenced to five years and four months of imprisonment in a case involving the embezzlement of 272 million rubles.
The funds were allocated for the creation of the state information system of the fuel and energy complex (GIS TEK). The verdict has taken effect, but the ex-official's defense intends to challenge it all the way to the Supreme Court of Russia, insisting on his innocence. The court also fined Tikhonov 501 million rubles.

After the verdict was announced, he was released, as he had already served time under investigation in a pre-trial detention center.
