Embezzlement of 272 Million Rubles: Verdict Against Former Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy of Russia Takes Effect

The money was allocated for the creation of an information system for the fuel and energy complex

The Moscow City Court upheld the verdict against the former Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, Anatoly Tikhonov. He was sentenced to five years and four months of imprisonment in a case involving the embezzlement of 272 million rubles.

The funds were allocated for the creation of the state information system of the fuel and energy complex (GIS TEK). The verdict has taken effect, but the ex-official's defense intends to challenge it all the way to the Supreme Court of Russia, insisting on his innocence. The court also fined Tikhonov 501 million rubles.

In March 2024, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow found Tikhonov guilty of official crimes, including embezzlement of budget funds and receiving bribes totaling 77 million rubles and 580 thousand dollars. After the verdict was announced, he was released, as he had already served time under investigation in a pre-trial detention center.

Anatoly Tikhonov was arrested in 2020, and security measures were imposed on his property. This includes bank accounts, shares, income from securities, as well as real estate, including a mansion on Rublevka, an apartment on Patriarch's Ponds in Moscow, foreign real estate, one million euros in his son's account, and 43 million euros in the accounts of his company in Monaco.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that almost a billion rubles were demanded from the manufacturer of Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers.
