The eight-axle "BAM" gondola car (model 12-5992), developed by the Ural Design Bureau of Car Building, has been approved for operation on 1520 mm gauge railways. This was reported by the press service of "Uralvagonzavod".
Features of the "BAM" gondola car:
- Load capacity — 151 t
- Compact body — 166 m³
- Service life — 32 years
- Operating temperature range — from –60°C to +50°C
- A train of new gondola cars will transport 1470 tons more than a train of the previous generation
"BAM" will increase the throughput of the railway network in key directions, while it does not require modernization of repair facilities – maintenance can be carried out on the existing infrastructure.
