AvtoVAZ may cut its production program for 2025 by 20%. This will lead to a reduction in output to 400,000 cars.
This decision is due to a surplus of unsold cars, falling sales, and a lack of signs of demand recovery amid high credit rates. The final decision may be made at the next meeting of the company's board of directors.
In 2024, AvtoVAZ produced more than 525,000 cars, increasing production by 40%. However, in the spring of 2025, sales fell sharply. In March alone, the decrease was 37% compared to the same period last year, in April — 32.6%, and in May — 36.2%. The company's decline was more significant than the market average (36.2% versus 28.3%).
Currently, cars under the Lada brand are produced at two plants — in Togliatti and Izhevsk, with a total capacity of about 750,000 cars per year. Sources at "Samara Review" estimate the total number of unsold cars in AvtoVAZ's distribution network at approximately 100,000 units.
