Cooling system pumps of the first power unit put into operation at the Akkuyu NPP

Six units will ensure stable operation of auxiliary systems

Electric motors of technical water supply pumps were launched at the coastal pumping station of the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP.

The system includes six pumps, each of which is capable of pumping up to 770 cubic meters of water per hour - this is approximately 5.5 railway tanks.

Technical water is used to cool auxiliary equipment, ensuring its stable and safe operation. The launch of the pumps is an important step towards putting the power unit into operation.

The construction of the pumping station for Akkuyu began back in 2020: to build it, it was necessary to enclose the coastline with a reinforced concrete diaphragm - this wall was later dismantled to provide free access of sea water to the pumps. The commissioning stage has been underway since February 3, 2025
