First shots of the newest corvette "Mercury" with the unique radar system "Zaslon" have appeared

The Project 20380 ship became the fifth in the series built at the Northern Shipyard

The first shots of the newest corvette "Mercury" of Project 20380 for the Russian Navy have appeared online. "Mercury" is the fifth ship built at the Northern Shipyard according to the project developed by CMDB "Almaz".

The combat vessel is designed to detect and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships, provide landing support, and solve various tasks in the near sea zone.

The ships are equipped with artillery, anti-missile, anti-submarine, sonar, and radar systems, as well as a hangar for a Ka-27 helicopter. "Mercury" differs from previous Project 20380 ships by the installation of a new multifunctional radar system "Zaslon" with fixed antennas placed in a tower-like superstructure, similar to Project 20385 corvettes.

Main tactical and technical characteristics of Project 20380 ships:

  • Standard displacement — 1800 t
  • Length — 104.5 m
  • Width — 13.0 m
  • Maximum draft — 7.95 m
  • Main power plant — 2 twin-shaft diesel-diesel units DDA-12000 with a total power of 24 thousand hp
