War correspondent Alexander Kots rejected the provocative opinion that Russia has lost nuclear parity with the United States in strategic aviation. According to him, there is absolutely no reason to think so.
The journalist recalled that Russia has never had any parity with the United States in terms of the number of long-range bomber aircraft.
For example, according to open data, Russia has about 50 Tu-95s, about 20 supersonic Tu-160 aircraft, and about 55 Tu-22M3 bombers. All of them are capable of carrying missiles and bombs with a special thermonuclear warhead.
For comparison, the United States has about 40 supersonic B-1 Lancer aircraft, about 20 B-2 Spirits, and about 75 B-52 aircraft from the Cold War era.
But we still maintain strategic parity. The main striking force of our nuclear triad is the ground component. The air and sea components only complement it. If we reason theoretically, even the loss of half of our nuclear potential during counter strikes still retains the ability to destroy the planet Earth several times.
