No one plans to pay 90.9 million rubles: Russian "daughter" of Microsoft decided to go bankrupt

Microsoft Rus LLC (the Russian subsidiary of the American corporation Microsoft) is preparing to file for its own bankruptcy. The corresponding notification was published on the Fedresurs portal.

One of the main reasons for this step was a lawsuit by Gazprombank, which acts as a creditor of the "daughter". In January 2025, the bank demanded to recover 90.9 million rubles from the company as part of a case of unjustified enrichment.

The situation is related to an annual technical support contract concluded in September 2021. However, since April 2022, Microsoft Rus has ceased to fulfill its obligations under the contract and has not returned the funds received.

In April, the court partially satisfied Gazprombank's claims, ordering the recovery of 887 thousand dollars as unjustified enrichment and 62 thousand dollars in interest. It was also decided that the company must pay interest accrued taking into account the weighted average interest rate on loans until the actual payment.

The American technology giant began to curtail its activities in Russia in the spring of 2022. In December 2024 and January 2025, branches in 13 Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk) were closed. A year ago, Microsoft disconnected half of the organizations from Russia from its services.
