The new version of the Lada Vesta, equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, features a unique "foolproof" system. This was reported by automotive journalist Maxim Kadakov.
This system prevents accidental engine start if the gear lever is not in the neutral position. This protection is especially important for inexperienced drivers, as it reduces the risk of unexpected situations on the road.
If the lever is in the neutral position, but the driver has not depressed the brake, the engine will not start. If it is set to first gear, when trying to start the engine, the car will ask to move the lever to neutral. Even if the driver tries to depress the brake with the gear engaged, it will not be possible to start the engine. However, if both the clutch and brake pedals are pressed simultaneously, starting will be possible.
The Lada Vesta with a 6-speed gearbox is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine that develops a power of 122 horsepower. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 10.5 seconds.
