Russian Railways (RZD) plans to launch 38 new increased gauge cars on the Moscow - St. Petersburg route in the fall of 2025. This was announced by the head of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov.
Over the next year, the holding will also purchase an additional volume of passenger cars, which will be delivered to 11 regions of the country.
The new locomotive-hauled cars of model 61-4533 have been certified. They are 28 cm wider and 73 cm longer than standard 1-VM cars. This has made it possible to significantly increase the size of the compartments and sleeping berths, as well as to reconfigure the cars and add additional rooms.
Each compartment of the new car is equipped with tables with built-in chargers, a temperature control system, and individual folding tables for tablets and laptops located on the upper shelves. The new cars have one more compartment than previous models. A children's compartment with thematic design and an extra-wide sleeping berth has also been created.
