The Federation Council approved a law establishing a list of cars allowed for use in taxis. From 2026, mainly domestically produced cars will be used in this sector.
The list includes models such as Lada Granta, Lada Vesta and Lada Aura, Haval Jolion, Haval F7/F7x, BAIC U5 Plus and Kaiyi E5. The vehicles will be used to transport customers in the economy and comfort classes.
However, the situation looks less optimistic in the premium segment. Due to the shortage of high-class cars, taxi fleets may face problems in forming a fleet for business class and VIP clients. This may lead to a reduction in supply in these categories, according to automotive journalists.
In their opinion, limiting the list of permissible models may affect the cost of taxi services. An increase in the cost of purchasing new cars will affect the prices of trips. As a result, taxi users may face higher fares.
