An AvtoVAZ employee — the author of the insider public page Avtograd — stated that the information that Renault hindered the development of Lada is not true. As an argument, he cited the updated Lada Vesta 2022.
During the restyling, the car received LED headlights, a new dashboard with a soft coating, a digital instrument panel, a multimedia system, and new driver assistance systems.
According to the employee, the update, developed with the participation of Renault, confirms the absence of restrictions in electronics. The 2022 Vesta NG is one of the most technologically advanced Lada models. It costs from 1.24 million rubles. In 2023, sales of this model increased significantly.
Just one example from us: the restyling of the Vesta in 2022, when it received a bunch of electronic features, LED headlights, a soft panel, and what, one wonders, is the fault of the French? Where are the restrictions on electronics? And if it weren't for the French, there would be no Iskra now, no 400 new components added to it, but other suppliers would have been found with quality much worse than the previous ones.
The author of the public page also recalled that under the French, the metal body of the next generation Lada Vesta, created on a completely new platform, was already ready.
And now this Vesta platform of the current generation will be chewed on for another ten, fifteen years, the same B-cross and minivan are going to be built on it, and a bunch of other incomprehensible things.
Earlier, on the air of the radio station "Moscow FM", the head of the press service of the auto giant, Sergei Ilyinsky, said how the Renault alliance restrained the development of Lada. Cars were deprived of some electronic functions and modern equipment so as not to compete with Renault models in the Russian market. The alliance also restricted Lada's exports outside the country.
