In accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia, the Government, together with the Roscosmos State Corporation, is completing the finalization of strategic plans in the field of space activities. The updated national project includes several key areas that should ensure a technological breakthrough and strengthen the country's position in space.
Among the priorities is the creation of a completely Russian orbital station, mass production of satellites for the deployment of constellations, as well as programs of fundamental research and manned flights. Special attention is paid to reducing the cost of launching payloads into orbit, which is critical for competitiveness.
According to experts, more than 1 trillion rubles will be required to implement projects in the next three years, and about 4.5 trillion rubles by 2036. The Head of Government Mikhail Mishustin stressed the need to attract private investment and improve management efficiency.
We plan to launch our new initiatives from next year – after finalization and approval by the President. It is important for everyone to carefully analyze the proposed systemic approaches to building comprehensive work in this area, including taking into account the role of international cooperation, especially with friendly countries, BRICS countries and the Global South. These decisions will be the starting point for strengthening the leading position of Russian cosmonautics.
First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov noted that, despite the ambitious plans, they take into account budgetary constraints and involve the active participation of business.
Here we are following the path of other space powers, which have proven the effectiveness of public-private partnerships in expanding their presence in orbit.
Russia is betting on complete technological independence in space, including its own orbital station and satellite systems. Success will depend on an effective combination of public funding and private investment, as well as the training of qualified personnel.
