РЖД модернизировала перегон Кун – Хумма на БАМе

The project will enable double-track train traffic at speeds up to 60 km/h

Russian Railways (RZD) has opened train traffic on the new track on the Kun – Humma section (Komsomolsk – Sovgavansk line), the company's press service reported.

During the construction, almost 13 km of track, 9 turnouts, and more than 100 km of various communication lines were laid. To straighten the complex terrain, embankments up to 8 m high were built and excavations up to 65 m deep were made. Almost 1.2 million m³ of soil were processed.

The section passes through the northwestern part of the Sikhote-Alin mountain range, where there is a significant confluence of melt and rain waters. To prevent flooding of railway infrastructure, a number of hydraulic engineering solutions have been implemented, including 11 culverts, an uphill ditch, and a 6 m wide ditch-trench. A unique filter system was also installed to treat runoff from the roadbed.

The modernization of the Kun – Humma section will allow organizing double-track train traffic at speeds up to 60 km/h, which will significantly increase the carrying capacity of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Vanino line, where the speed on one track was previously 40 km/h.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Railways opened traffic on the Datta – Kenada section of the BAM.
