The newest 2S38 Derivation-Air Defense anti-aircraft artillery system was spotted at the Victory Parade in Nizhny Novgorod last week.
Derivation-Air Defense is the only anti-aircraft system in the world that engages aerial targets with 57-mm guns and is equipped with artillery fire control. The complex was created on the chassis of the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle.
The 2S38 gun is primarily designed to combat drones, air attack weapons, and cruise missiles in the near zone. The system is also capable of operating against ground targets.
In March 2024, Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the Rostec cluster of weapons, ammunition, and special chemistry, noted that the state corporation is doing everything to ensure that Derivation-Air Defense enters the military as soon as possible.
