A section of the M-4 "Don" highway passing through the Rostov region will be increased to 6 lanes. The expansion will affect more than 90 km of the road. This was reported by the press service of the Russian government.
In recent years, we have managed to gradually complete a huge amount of work to modernize the M-4 "Don". Now we are starting the reconstruction of the section from the 933rd to the 1024th km in the Rostov region. In addition to the expansion of the roadway, a set of measures is planned for artificial structures.
According to Khusnullin, the work on the highway will affect 11 transport interchanges. Three of them will be built from scratch to eliminate intersections on the same level with other roads. It is also planned to reconstruct 16 bridge structures and build four new ones.
The project includes the installation of outdoor lighting, barrier and mesh fences, as well as noise barriers in areas passing through settlements. The highway will be controlled using an automated traffic management system.
The Chairman of the Board of the state company "Avtodor" Vyacheslav Petushenko noted that the design loads for which this section was calculated do not correspond to the actual operating conditions and the annual growth of cargo traffic. In recent years, the load on the highway has increased significantly due to the increase in the passage of oversized cargo, including for the purposes of a special military operation and to the port of Novorossiysk. The reconstruction will create a road without traffic lights and intersections, which will improve safety and throughput.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that a new lane willappear on the exits from the M-4 "Don" highway to the Moscow Ring Road.
