Satellite surveillance photos have appeared online showing the diesel-electric submarine (DES) "Krasnodar" of the Black Sea Fleet, Project 636.3, code "Varshavyanka," and the tugboat "Evgeny Churov," Project 712, in Algeria. According to MilitaryRussia, this could be a new base for the Navy (VMF) in the Mediterranean.
According to the source, the combat service of the "Krasnodar" is being used to test various basing and navigation options for Navy ships in the North Africa and Middle East region.
It is also worth noting that the host country has provided anti-sabotage protection for the pier where the ships are moored.
The Project 636.3 DES is designed to destroy surface ships and vessels, enemy submarines, patrol, guard, reconnaissance, and protect communications in the near sea zone.
The submarines have a length of 74 m, a maximum displacement of more than 3.9 thousand tons. The strong hull provides the submarine with a working immersion depth of 240 m and a maximum depth of 300 m, a cruising range of up to 7.5 thousand miles. The main armament of the submarines is the "Caliber-PL" missile system.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that Russia will have a satellite group for military intelligence and communications.
