The motor ship "Alpha", sailing under the Russian flag, collided with the lower gate at the Kochetovsky hydro-electric complex on the Don River. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Rostov region.
In the city of Semikarakorsk, at the Kochetovsky hydro-electric complex, the motor ship "Alpha", entering the hydro-electric complex chamber, ran into the lower gate with the bow of the ship.
Currently, the Ministry of Emergency Situations staff are clarifying the extent of damage to the motor ship and the gate. There are no casualties among the 12 crew members.
No oil spills were recorded at the accident site. The hydro-electric complex is temporarily not allowing ships to pass.
The Kochetovsky hydro-electric complex is a low-pressure hydro-electric complex on the Don River, located 135 km from Rostov-on-Don. The hydro-electric complex includes 2 navigable locks, a Poirée dam system, and a reinforced concrete spillway dam with a fish passage lock.
