Roscosmos and NASA have agreed to synchronize the operational timelines of the International Space Station (ISS). This was announced by Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of the state corporation.
Kenneth Bowersox, Deputy Administrator of NASA, was at Baikonur, and we agreed to synchronize all the timelines. We have joint crews, we have joint cross-flights, and it would not be very correct for us to disrupt the calendar plan.
Russia and the USA are constantly discussing plans to complete the station's operation. It was previously stated that the USA intends to continue the project until 2030, while Russia planned to complete its work on the ISS in 2028.
The ISS was launched into orbit on November 20, 1998. The mass of the station itself is 435 tons, and with docked ships it is 470 tons. Not only Russia and the USA are participating in the project, but also Canada, Japan, as well as 10 countries that are members of the European Space Agency, including Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Sweden and Switzerland.
