Successful tests have been conducted on dozens of new fiber optic FPV drones "Hortensia 7" and "Hortensia 10". This was reported by the design bureau of the same name.
The "Hortensia 7" drone operates with a fiber optic channel length of 5 to 10 km, while the "Hortensia 10" can reach up to 30 kilometers. The first combat batch has already been delivered to the troops, and the UAVs have received positive feedback. The design bureau's production capacity allows for the production of up to 3,000 such drones per month.
The drones are equipped with a hybrid communication system with the ability to automatically switch between fiber optic and radio channels without delays for the operator. Thanks to this, stable communication remains even in the event of a fiber optic break, allowing the device to be returned and reused with a new coil.
"Hortensia 7" is equipped with 7-inch propellers and designed for operational tasks. The device is highly mobile and compact, which is especially important in combat conditions. The combat deployment time is less than three minutes, and the "Нить" mounting system simplifies equipping with ammunition and preparing for flight.
The compact size and light weight also allow a crew of two or three people to carry a significant number of such devices.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a new communication system for kamikaze drones has been developed in Russia: it bypasses all existing electronic warfare equipment.
