Since the beginning of this year, AvtoVAZ has been less frequently hiring employees for weekend work. This was reported by the chairman of the primary trade union organization, Sergey Zaitsev.
Earlier on Friday, information appeared in Telegram channels that AvtoVAZ allegedly plans to stop the plant in Togliatti due to falling sales and overproduction in warehouses. The press service of AvtoVAZ stated that the company is able to maintain financial stability even with sharp changes in demand. No additional production stoppages are planned at the moment, and employees are expected to have a traditional corporate vacation in May.
The amount of work on weekends has been reduced since this year. It is clear that last year every weekend, every Saturday, the plant involved (employees - ed. note) in the work. Now they are sometimes involved once or twice a month. There is a volume of goods that is waiting for its buyer. Since we have cars, why would we bring in additional employees every weekend?
Car sales have fallen compared to last year's figures, as reported by Zaitsev. He noted that there is usually a decrease in demand for cars in winter, which is typical for automakers around the world.
Now the roads are clear, we assume that sales should rise a little.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ announced the release of a new batch of Lada Niva Legend SUVs in a stunning dark blue metallic shade called "Captain." It included about 20–25 cars.
