Relax, weather-sensitive people: IKI RAS refutes rumors of major magnetic storms on the weekend

Weak geomagnetic activity poses no danger to Earth

Specialists from IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS have refuted rumors of major magnetic storms on the weekend. Current solar activity remains low, despite the presence of two potentially active zones on the visible side of the Sun.

Over the past day, only seven weak flares have been recorded, which do not pose a threat to Earth. However, from April 2 to April 4, stable disturbances of the magnetic field are observed, caused by a special interaction of the solar wind with the magnetosphere.

The solar wind, although not characterized by increased speed or density, penetrates deeper than usual due to the favorable configuration of parameters. This has led to the expansion of the auroral zone, but has not provoked magnetic storms.

The processes are weak in nature, and reports of "major storms" do not correspond to reality

The probability of a weak G1 level storm in the coming days is estimated at 50%, but its intensity will be minimal.
