Earth under observation: Rosatom commissions the Resurs-P No. 5 spacecraft

Roscosmos has successfully commissioned the Resurs-P No. 5 spacecraft, the state corporation's press service reported.

The Resurs-P No. 5 space system is designed for remote sensing of the Earth in the visible and near-infrared ranges.

Its target information is used for monitoring natural resources, emergency areas, environmental pollution control, ice situation assessment, etc.

The Resurs-P satellites are developed at the Rocket and Space Center Progress. The devices allow updating maps and assisting the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Federal Agency for Fishery, Roshydromet and other organizations.

The launch of the Resurs-P No. 5 spacecraft took place on December 25, 2024 from Baikonur. The device successfully transmitted the first images of the USA, China and the UAE.
