The "Caliber" missile carrier, the diesel-electric submarine (DES) "Yakutsk" of Project 636.3, the "Varshavyanka" class, will join the Pacific Fleet in 2026. This was reported by the @izvestia portal.
The submarine was launched at the Admiralty Shipyards (part of USC) in the fall of 2024.
The "Varshavyanka" class submarines are equipped with high-precision weapons capable of solving any tasks in any area of the world's oceans. The cruisers have confirmed high seaworthiness and combat characteristics with thousands of nautical miles traveled, repeated combat services, and completed combat missions.
"Yakutsk" is the sixth and last submarine of Project 636.3 in the series, built by the Admiralty Shipyards for the Pacific Fleet. The series also includes the submarines "Mozhaisk", "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky", "Volkhov", "Magadan" and "Ufa".
The DES of Project 636.3 is designed to destroy surface ships and vessels, enemy submarines, patrol, guard, reconnaissance, and protect communications in the near sea zone.
The submarines have a length of 74 m, and a maximum displacement of more than 3.9 thousand tons. The strong hull provides the submarine with a working immersion depth of 240 m and a maximum depth of 300 m, a cruising range of up to 7.5 thousand miles. The main armament of the submarines is the "Caliber-PL" missile system.
