VK has introduced the Max platform, a new messenger with mini-applications and a payment system, which is already available for download in the App Store, Google Play, RuStore, AppGallery, as well as for Windows and macOS. The messenger is also available from a regular browser.
In the first stage, Max offers standard messenger functions: text messages, voice and video calls, sending files up to 4 GB in size, as well as built-in mini-applications and a chatbot builder. In the future, the developers plan to integrate government and other services to make the platform a universal tool for communication and everyday tasks.
Additional media servers are used throughout the country for calls, and machine learning technologies improve the quality of transmitted speech. Registration in Max is done by phone number, and contacts can be found by number, link, or QR code.
The technological basis of Max is media servers distributed throughout Russia and machine learning algorithms that optimize the quality of communication even with a weak Internet connection, according to VK.
Synchronization with contacts simplifies the search for users. A tool for creating bots without programming skills is available for business.
Max is positioned as an ecosystem that combines communications, payments, and digital services — a strategy successfully implemented by WeChat in China. At the current stage, only the basic functionality of the messenger is available.
