In Shushary, on the territory where the General Motors plant used to be located, it is planned to launch the production of cars under the Chery brand. This is reported by "Delovoy Peterburg" with reference to sources in the industry.
The "Automotive Plant AGR", which currently also produces cars under the Solaris brand on the territory previously owned by Hyundai, is actively looking for new employees. One of the job advertisements indicates the company's second plant in Shushary as the place of work. This is where GM cars were previously produced.
Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov spoke about the resumption of the production site back in July last year. At that time, he noted that a technological partner had already been found for the plant, and more detailed information about the plans would be provided after the completion of negotiations. The start of mass production of cars is scheduled for 2026.
Earlier, the Gorky Automobile Plant launched mass production of a new cross-country truck, which was named "Sadko 9". This model is not yet available for purchase. All manufactured vehicles are sent to superstructure manufacturers for the creation and certification of various special equipment modifications, as well as for the formation of warehouse stocks by the time sales begin.
