The latest domestic electric car "Atom" will receive its own low-voltage system developed in Russia. The developers explained the need for original design by the unique layout of "Atom" and its technical features.
The system is already undergoing laboratory tests in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Nanjing, China. The electrical component of the new product is divided into two parts — 12-volt, responsible for the operation of electronic control modules, and 400-volt, in which key power components are involved.
Decentralization has become a specificity of the low-voltage architecture of "Atom". There is no central controller in the system: the functionality of the architecture is divided into several zones, each of which is responsible for a separate module. For example, we are talking about the media system, driver assistants and chassis control.
The developers believe that this approach not only increases the reliability of the system, but also allows it to be scaled in the future. Also, in some cases, there is no need to activate the entire system, limiting ourselves to launching individual blocks, which has a positive effect on the energy efficiency of the system.
Mass production of "Atom" will begin in July this year. Electric cars will be assembled at the facilities of the Moscow plant "Moskvich".
