Russian "Gvozdika" self-propelled artillery units (SAU) with chain protection on the lower frontal hull have been spotted online. Mesh screens are mounted on the turret. Everything is done very high quality.
Despite the apparent simplicity of the design, the chains perform an important role. They are able to withstand the impact of a kamikaze drone, as well as defocus the cumulative effect of armor-piercing projectiles.
"Gvozdika" entered service with the military in 1970. The self-propelled gun with a 122-mm D-30 gun was developed on the basis of the chassis of a multi-purpose armored MT-LB transporter. The maximum firing range is 19.3 km.
On the highway, "Gvozdika" is capable of moving at a speed of 60 km/h, over rough terrain - 29 km/h. The crew of the "Gvozdika" consists of four people: the commander, gunner, driver and loader.
