Footage of the MT-LB "Motolyga" tracked light armored multi-purpose tractor in an amusing, yet technically sound and effective configuration of improvised anti-cumulative anti-drone protection has gone viral online. Military analyst Evgeny Damantsev explained that this solution would increase the vehicle's optical signature sevenfold but reduce the detection range of thermal imaging systems by a factor of three.
He drew attention to the 60-centimeter spacing of the anti-cumulative grid and anti-drone chains covering the upper frontal part of the hull and the front sector of the upper armor plate of the hull.
This allows for a very effective defocusing of the jets of monoblock cumulative warheads, and in some cases, it ensures the defocusing of the main charges of tandem cumulative warheads.
The analyst added that the side projections of the MT-LB are covered with 25 mm sections of conveyor belt with high physical and mechanical parameters, designed for feeding agglomerate or ferroalloys. The spacing from the side armor plates is about 45 cm.
