The first car of the new SKM brand is a renamed version of the 2021 SRM Jinhaishi model from the Chinese company Shineray. The production of these all-metal vans and minivans will most likely be established at the facilities of the former AvtoVAZ Pilot Production in Togliatti, after 9 years of inactivity.
Not so long ago, the production of VIS semi-frame trucks moved there. Accordingly, the direct manufacturer of SKM will probably be the subsidiary VIS-Avto.
SRM Jinhaishi is a family of mini-vans built on the Jinbei Haise X30L platform, which was produced by the Chinese company Brilliance Auto from 2015 to 2018. The Haise X30L chassis is borrowed from Japanese mini-vans of the 90s.
In China, SRM Jinhaishi is available in various modifications with gasoline engines of 1.3, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 liters, with a capacity of 86 to 150 hp. All versions are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. Bi-fuel modifications are also available (gasoline and compressed natural gas).
SRM Jinhaishi is primitive in its design. The car features a longitudinal engine, rear-wheel drive and a solid axle on leaf springs.
Earlier www1.ru reported that AvtoVAZ launched a new brand of commercial vehicles under the SKM brand.
