A lifeboat produced by the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) has broken the world record for the highest freefall.
The crew launched the boat from a height of 40 meters. During the experiment, there were 10 people inside: two in the front, and the other eight in the back. Sandbags were secured in the empty seats.
The design of boats of this type is designed for 70 people and allows them to enter the water with their nose, surfacing in a vertical position. The experiment was carried out as part of the development of evacuation measures from oil platforms and marine structures.
Lifeboats are distinguished by the type of launch: those launched using davits and free-fall lifeboats (in the video). Boats can be of closed and open type.
As a rule, the hull of lifeboats is painted orange or white, and the internal surfaces are painted bright orange. The boat number is written on the bow of both sides, with the boats on the starboard side having odd numbers and those on the port side having even numbers.
