Scientists from the Ural Federal University have created an innovative test system capable of detecting cancer at an early stage. This method is based on a blood test and is currently being tested for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
According to the creators of the test system, the diagnosis can be carried out during a medical examination or independently by taking a test. As experts explain, the new test system has high reliability — it analyzes molecular markers — and surpasses existing analogues.
Scientists have proposed a new method that allows detecting changes in the metabolism of biomarkers in the blood. Currently, this method is being tested for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer.
As reported at the university, one of the existing analogues is a test system used for the diagnosis of gastroenterological and pulmonary diseases. It is based on gas chromatography. However, as scientists explained, this method does not allow detecting early stages of oncological diseases.
The researchers plan to expand the work and include other types of cancer. They want to teach the system to accurately determine the stage and aggressiveness of the disease. By 2027, they hope to bring their development to market.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian scientists are working on creating sensors that will allow diagnosing diseases by human breath. These sensors have high sensitivity and are able to capture even minor changes in the composition of exhaled air.
