Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) will begin mass production of passive safety systems, including airbags, in 2025.
An important feature of the new production will be a full manufacturing cycle — from casting the steering wheel frame from a magnesium alloy and sewing the airbags to assembling the control units. The airbags will be installed on both UAZ vehicles and Sollers models, including pickups. In the future, the products may be supplied to other Russian automakers as well.
This step will strengthen UAZ's position in the field of auto components and increase the safety level of domestic cars, as well as help reduce dependence on imported supplies.
