A "Metaphor" inter-network relay device has been developed for the Russian military, combining various radio stations into a network and solving compatibility problems of various devices. The system provides voice or message transmission between cell phones, radio stations, and computers connected to different networks.
The device can also receive signals from external networks in several ways. A USB connector allows connecting modems with a SIM card for using a cellular network. There is also Wi-Fi support, a connector for working with wired internet, and two mini XLR connectors for connecting military radio stations.
"Metaphor" solves the problems of secure voice transmission, compatibility of various radio stations, and combining them into a single system via the internet and broadband networks.
The process of building a communication network from existing different devices is very complex, and sometimes impossible, when some of them are incompatible with each other. "Metaphor" provides a simple solution to this problem.
The device, weighing 240 grams, is configured using a mobile application — a smartphone controls "Metaphor" via Bluetooth. Soldiers on the line of combat contact gave the device a high rating.
