Scientists at Chelyabinsk State University (ChelSU) have created, for the first time in Russia, a homing head (Homing Head) with a viewing angle of about 160° for missile systems, said the rector of the university, Sergey Taskaev.
The development, which has no analogues in Russia, was presented at the Forum of Volunteers and Volunteers "Patriots of the Urals" in Miass.
The homing head is part of the passive UAV detection system that we are developing.
The air defense system, which uses a missile with a new Homing Head, detects the flight of drones. It hits them with fragmentation and thermobaric ammunition, Taskaev explained.
With this system, you can protect oil refineries or other important infrastructure facilities, he concluded.

The homing head is a coordinator (detection device) with which missiles, bombs, and torpedoes are equipped. The Homing Head ensures accurate target hit and is considered an element of the guidance system. Several types of homing heads are mass-produced in Russia, including active ones for short- and medium-range air-to-air missiles.
