The Russian cybersecurity solutions developer Positive Technologies announced its plans to enter the antivirus market after acquiring a stake in the Belarusian vendor "Virusblokada." The domestic software manufacturer aims to occupy up to 20% of the information security market, which, according to forecasts, will exceed 700 billion rubles by 2028.
Investing in an antivirus protection developer allows us to open new markets, offering customers products depending on their maturity level, starting from the most basic level, where antivirus technology is primarily needed.
As part of its plans, the company will combine some departments of its expert security center (PT Expert Security Center) into an antivirus laboratory. It will focus on improving the expertise of products in terms of countering malicious programs.
By the end of 2025, Positive Technologies will integrate advanced antivirus solutions into its products, such as MaxPatrol EDR, PT ISIM, PT Sandbox, and PT NGFW. The company also plans to release its own antivirus solution.
In Russia, we will sell the new product under the Positive Technologies brand. In the Republic of Belarus, the "Virusblokada" brand remains.
He added that the first sales of the existing EDR product with the new module will begin in the third quarter, and a new product will be launched at the end of the year.
Antivirus and EDR solutions together represent the endpoint market, in which we plan to occupy at least 10% in 2026.
