AvtoVAZ accused of overpricing Lada: manufacturer responds by calling itself the most affordable brand in the Russian market

"National Taxi Council" filed a complaint against the auto giant with the FAS

The "National Taxi Council" (NST) association has filed a complaint with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) against AvtoVAZ. The organization believes that the prices for Lada Granta and Lada Vesta are too high.

According to the NST, the average price of economy-class cars has increased by 28% in the last few years, while Granta and Vesta have become 1.6–1.8 times more expensive. The association added that this situation makes the operation of domestic cars less profitable and negatively affects carriers.

The press service of AvtoVAZ responded that Lada cars remain the most affordable in the Russian market.

As for pricing policy, at the end of 2024, prices for Lada cars were indexed by 4.3%, which is more than half the official inflation rate. Lada remains the most affordable brand on the market.

The automaker recalled that it is not the dominant supplier of cars for taxis. Today, taxi fleets choose cars from a large number of manufacturers, both domestic and imported, AvtoVAZ noted. The company has not yet familiarized itself with the text of the union's complaint.
