Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin visited the Rudnevo industrial park. The Mayor opened the largest flight test complex for unmanned aerial vehicles in Russia.
The complex became part of the Federal Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, which brought together leading Russian developers and manufacturers of UAVs, as well as companies that produce components and software.
An educational center for personnel training, an R&D center and a powerful production center have been created in the Rudnevo industrial park, where drones are being developed - from small FPV to large helicopter systems.
According to the Mayor, the complex will be used for both civilian and military needs. Young people will be able to learn how to operate drones before serving in the army.
We are developing a training program for soldiers that will allow us to train about five thousand specialists during the year.
Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Yunus-Bek Evkurov called the opening of the complex a significant event for the country and the armed forces. Here soldiers will be able to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge on new domestic systems.
The flight test complex occupies 11 hectares. An experimental legal regime is in effect for it. It allows flights of UASs weighing over 30 kilograms without an airworthiness certificate and reduces the time for submitting applications for the use of airspace.
