«Бесконечно активный» органический катализатор разработали в СПбГУ

The new catalyst is environmentally friendly and easy to produce

A unique class of organic catalysts that do not lose activity under the influence of other compounds in the reaction has been created at St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU). This was reported in the press service of the university.

Traditionally, metal complex systems are used as catalysts. However, in recent years, scientists have been paying more attention to organic analogues.

Metal complexes form strong coordination bonds with the components of the reaction, including those that suppress their work. Our catalyst forms weak interactions with all participants in the process, due to which its activity is almost not reduced under the influence of those compounds that block the work of metal-containing analogues.

The developed organic catalysts are able to activate reaction substrates in conditions where metal complex catalysts are ineffective. Among the advantages of the new substances are economic benefits, environmental safety and the possibility of reuse.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a new catalyst based on boron and tungsten was developed in Russia.
