AvtoVAZ has denied rumors about plans to produce cars at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, which is now called "Avtozavod St. Petersburg."
Company representatives called reports of possible assembly of Lada Iskra and Renault Logan models at this site rumors. In the current environment, the company has sufficient production capacity in Togliatti, Izhevsk, and Argun. At the moment, the transfer or expansion of production to new sites is not being considered.
A representative of AvtoVAZ noted that in the medium term, with market growth, the consideration of additional production facilities, both own and partner, is possible, but it is too early to talk about such a prospect.
Earlier, the media reported that "Avtozavod St. Petersburg" is going to curtail the production of Xcite and start production of Lada Iskra and Renault Logan.
